PRESS RELEASE - 28 July 2008

The first Hampton Hill Village Fęte & Green Fair Saturday 18 July 2009

(in aid of wildlife and the environment)

The Hampton Hill Association is proud to announce the very first Hampton Hill Village Fęte and Green Fair to be held in Bushy Park on Saturday 18th July 2009, between 12 noon and 8 pm.

A huge range of attractions are planned with something for everybody, young and old. So far these will include exciting live bands all day, a karate exhibition and dance troupes, eco-arts & crafts, 100 exhibition stalls, children’s’ rides and games  including an eco-go-cart competition, a miniature garden competition, ‘grow your own’ vegetable and flower show, life on earth fancy dress, beautiful Bushy baby & buggy competition, an amateur dog show and of course, a beer tent along with an inter-pub tug of war!

Fete Organiser Helen Hurley said “we felt that it was time to stage a major summer time event to celebrate our unique village and the joy of living close to Bushy Park. At the same time we wanted to build awareness of the environmental issues affecting us all. We hope that the whole community will want to be involved especially the local schools, businesses and of course the residents of Hampton Hill and surrounding areas. We are expecting and planning for between 5,000 and 10,000 visitors with all the proceeds going to two charities. One will be a global and wildlife charity yet to be decided and the other will be the Greenwood Centre Voluntary Care Group this year. We intend to support a different local charity each year thereafter.”

Ray Brodie, Bushy Park Manager said “I am delighted to have teamed up with the Helen Hurley on this major event and have given permission for the event to be held in the attractive area inside the Hampton Hill gate down to the banks of River Longford.”

Helen Hurley went on to say, “needless to say at this stage we are looking for sponsors and prizes for the ten competitions. If you can help, want to book a stall space or have any ideas please let us know.”
